Dear Joshua ISD Families: 

With the continuous growth in Joshua, Joshua ISD is beginning to experience rapid student enrollment. Zonda Education conducted a demographic study for the district, projecting Joshua ISD to enroll more than 6,700 students by 2027/28, and approximately 7,200 students by the 2032/33 school year. In addition, Elder Elementary and North Joshua Elementary are currently exceeding capacity, with North Joshua projected to exceed capacity by approximately 340 students in the 2032/33 school year. As a result, our district is proactively planning to expand district facilities to accommodate the anticipated growth. 

On August 14, 2023, the Joshua ISD School Board voted unanimously to seek voter approval for a $107,140,000 bond issue. The Future Planning Committee convened during the summer months to review district demographics, tour facilities, and discuss future plans. This committee consisted of teachers, parents, local community members, and business owners. The Committee unanimously voted to make a recommendation to the Board of Trustees to move forward with a bond on November 7, 2023.  

The district’s financial advisor has determined that there would be a school tax rate increase to finance this bond. This will include an increase to the district’s I&S tax rate of $0.1703 per $100 valuation. For the average home value of $280,867 in Joshua ISD, that would be an increase of approximately $25.67 a month. Projects will be funded based on new valuations and growth within the district. The district’s 2023 bond package includes: 

• New Elementary School  
• JHS Renovation and Expansion
  • Classroom space for Career and Technical Education programs
  • JHS Kitchen and Cafeteria Updates
• Nichols Middle School Expansion
• HVAC & Roof Replacement | Paving 
• Safety and Security 
  • PA Systems, Fire Alarms, Cameras, Vape Detectors, Etc. 
• Property Acquisition

Joshua ISD residents will have the opportunity to vote on the bond election beginning with early voting on October 23 – November 3, 2023, and on Election Day, November 7, 2023.
