JHS Theatre students busy with competitions, community service during holidays

December 18, 2023

2023 Fall JHS Theatre Students 1

The holiday season has been super busy for the Joshua High School Theatre Department!

They jumped right in, competing at the Texas State Thespian Festival alongside 7,500 other Texas students. JHS students competed in every area of the contest - Playwriting, Costume Design, Prop Design, Set Design, Acting, Musical Theatre and more.

Our students were amazing, and a big bravo to Kennedi Boren, Jewell Bullard, Joseph Torres, Redding Herr and Luke Kunz for earning a Superior rating! They earned a spot at the National competition this summer in Indiana.

The festival was November 16-18 at the Gaylord Convention Center and Hotel in Grapevine.

JHS theatre classes have also been working on their class plays. The production classes performed for families and friends on December 11 and the Theatre I class will take the stage tonight, December 18, at 6 p.m.

Theatre students and Drama Club officers have also been very busy volunteering their time in the community by attending High Five Fridays, working at Glazewold’s Family Christmas as characters, participating in and winning the JHS StuCo Christmas Tree decorating contest and adopting two angels off the JISD Angel Tree.

Next up is UIL One Act Play auditions. The group will then start competing at the beginning of March.
